Ahhh. Winter break! Looking forward to the holidays and a bit of a relaxed pace. ‘need to give some needed attention to personal projects as well, though. Hopefully I can finish up a working version of the site I want to put up at brettandrewmiotti.com.
I recently designed a tour poster and lanyard for the Atlanta band, Ocean Is Theory, for their upcoming December tour. Scope the poster above.
More soon.

I decided to try my hand at creating a few iPhone wallpapers. The first was one is based on the “Comforting Sounds” print I created a while back (ahem… which are still available here and here.) I meant to somehow get this out to everyone who purchased a print so far but I’m just going to post it up here instead. The second wallpaper is appropriated from the design on the backside of my new business cards.

Hope you like! Let me know if you’re using either of these for your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Hullo. Nothing much to report. I designed some new business cards for myself. They arrived today… so, that was kind of fun. Make sure I getchoo one if we come in contact any time soon.

So, I’m in my third week of my internship with Adult Swim. It’s been a blast. Yesterday, I did the layout for an ad that will appear in a few Batman comics as well as one of my other favorite comics, Fables. This definitely got the nerdy fan-boy receptors in my brain firing. I’ve been working on another project that I’m really excited about, but can’t really say anything about it yet. I get along with all of the dudes I work with and it’s been a pleasure getting to know all of them. Jake (the creative director I work with… ) and I have even had a few conversations about one of my current musical faves, Volcano Choir. (Note the VC poster hanging up by my desk, pictured above.) My fellow designers have been schooling me hardcore on the office Family Guy pinball machine… but I’ma catch up!
Dear friends, enemies, colleagues, strangers, etc…
I am alive. Summer quarter has ended and I escaped relatively unscathed. I start Fall quarter in two weeks. Also, I’m excited/honored to announce that I’ve been offered an internship at Adult Swim. Hi-jinks will ensue.
Don’t be a stranger (I promise to do the same…,) let’s stay in touch.

These are now available at Etsy.com or Young Blood Gallery & Boutique if you live in Atlanta.

This weekend, with the help of some good friends, I screened a limited run of these bad boys. This will be an edition of 20 or so. Hopefully they will be popping up on an Etsy store or a Boutique around Atlanta soon (or in an art show put on by SCAD students this fall.) 3 colors on off white heavy stock. They are 12.5 inches by 12.5 inches and will fit perfectly into those record cover frames that are sold at Urban Outfitters (and other places, for much cheaper – by the way.) These will be reasonably priced too. I’m whipping up some possible digital goodies to include with a purchase as well.
Hello, Hello… ‘finally getting acclimated to life back in the USofA and becoming a productive human bean. ‘just in time, too… Summer Quarter starts this coming Monday. I decided to take classes this Summer in order to be able to graduate in the Spring of 2010.
Anyway… just wanted to let all (six) of you know I was still alive. Here’s an illustration I completed while I was in France for the debut issue of our campus’s new quarterly magazine. The illustration is for an article about the different philosophies of Oscar Widle and Diogenes. I used printing ink and a brayer to create the background. For the skin tone of the two figures, I scanned a blue textured paper, that was laying around in the printmaking lab on campus.

The rumors of my return are true. I have made it back home, into the United States of America. I have spent the last three nights kicking jet lag’s ass (more than likely it’s the other way around.) The culture shock has not been as bad as I had anticipated, but I do find myself missing certain aspects of southern French culture. In the meantime, I am busy chilling the eff out. ‘had lunch with some good friends on Wednesday and visited friends at school both Wednesday and Thursday. Today’s agenda includes catching a screening of the new Star Trek movie and then maybe a few “honey do’s.” I am sure I will be sharing more about my trip to France in the coming days… but for now I’m just decompressing a bit.
This is kind of cool, though, and relates to my trip in some way: Last night, Megan and I met her uncle John at Museum of Design Atlanta for an exhibit opening and wine tasting. (No, the wine drinking is not the connection I am making.) The exhibit was called The Graphic Imperative and was a collection of politically and socially aware posters over the past few decades. To my great surprise and delight the exhibit showcased two posters by Alain LeQuernec. ‘don’t know if I mentioned this before but Monsieur LeQuernec is an internationally known poster designer who came to our campus at Lacoste and gave a lecture. In addition, my Type 2 class had the great honor of having our posters critiqued by him. Needless to say, his feedback was very helpful.
More soon, including some recent design work…

As part of the program here at SCAD Lacoste, there is a contest for the students to design a poster for a near-by museum of corkscrews (“tire-bouchon” in french.) The prize is 1000 Euro, however this year two winners were selected. The good news is that I was one of them. This was a nice addition to finishing up the quarter and selling a print in our big gallery show.
